Hi, I’m Dr. Paulo Lizano
Dr. Paulo Lizano, MD, PhD is a neuropsychiatrist, physician-scientist, educator, and mental health advocate. He received his Psychiatry residency training at the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Mass Mental Health Center. He completed his Neuropsychiatry and Non-invasive Neuromodulation fellowship at the Berenson Allen Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Dr. Lizano is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is also the Division Chief of Translational Neuroscience, the founder/medical director of the ASPIRE early psychosis clinic, and the program director of the early psychosis fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He also runs a clinical, translational, and basic neuroscience laboratory at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He also served as the associate editor for Schizophrenia Research and is currently the Deputy Editor at the Harvard Review of Psychiatry.

Dr. Lizano has been a recipient of many teaching, clinical, and research awards. He receives funding from the National Institutes of Mental Health, Burroughs Wellcome Fund, OneMind, Baszucki Foundation, American Philosophical Foundation, Alkermes, Harvard Catalyst, and Harvard Medical School. He has also written several chapters related to Schizophrenia spectrum disorders.
Awards
Dr. Lizano is the Principal Investigator at Lizano Lab in Boston, Massachusetts. His research utilizes brain and retinal imaging, blood-based biomarker technology, and neuromodulation to better characterize serious mental illness and offer potential evidence-based interventions, particularly for idiopathic psychotic disorders.
